駅前に周辺の案内図がなく、ちょっと歩いたところにあった公園というか小さな広場に、かなり以前に設置されたと思われるそれがあった。で、それを頼りに付近を歩いたが駅を見つけられない。一周して元の公園に戻り、再度地図を眺める。JR線と遠賀川との間にあるはずで、遠賀川の堤防はすぐ向こうに見えるのであった。結局、あと一歩のところで引き返してしまったらしいことに気づき、もう一度同じ道を歩いてようやく到達する。
駅は意外にも高架駅であった。遠賀川にかかる鉄橋に高さを合わせてあるらしい。（日記より）
