復路は呉線を経由したこともあり往路より1時間ほど余計にかかる。さらに三原での接続が「山陽本線の列車が踏切点検で11分遅れ」とかでさらに遅れる。ただし、この遅延は途中で取り返して新倉敷には定刻に到着した。さすが回復運転に定評のある西日本、である。
