福北ゆたか線で直方（のうがた）まで移動する。ここから筑豊電鉄に乗り換えるためだ。てっきりJR駅に隣接しているものと思い込んでおり、あやうく平成筑豊鉄道の改札を潜るところだった。気がついて駅前に出てみるが寂れっぷりがものすごくて、特に半ば朽ちかけたオーバーアーケードの商店街は撮りたかったけれど、どうも興味本位で撮ることになりそうでやめた。（日記より）
