肥薩オレンジ鉄道では、中学生なのか高校生なのかよく分からない頭の悪そうな男子学生4人連れの隣に乗り合わせてしまい、ノイジーな時間を過ごすことになってしまった。彼らは広島からやってきたらしい。メンバーの一人の実家がこちらにあるようだった。泊まる場所を手配してないらしく、大丈夫なのだろうかと余計な心配をしてしまったが、まあ、若いうちは体力もあるから何とかなるのだろう。しかし、昨日の酔っ払いといい、今回は車内での乗り合わせに恵まれない。不知火湾は凪いでいてとても綺麗だった。（日記より）
