下関で接続待ちしている間に改札の外に出てみる。11年前、長崎からの帰途急遽泊まることにして備え付けの電話帳でホテルを探したことを思い出すが、その際使った電話ボックスは見当たらなかった。反対側の駅前広場だったかも知れない。下関で写真を撮ることも考えていたが、やはり九州に入ってしまおうと思いなおす。門司港まで行こうかと思い門司でも途中下車したが、小倉は初めてで様子が分からないこともあり、次の列車で小倉へ入った。（日記より）
