【当時はまだ東海道線が東京始発だったから、余裕で着席できたのだった。】

この列車はいつも乗っている熱海乗り換えより一つ早いものらしい。始発駅からの乗車で座る場所を探さなくて済むのはありがたい。時刻表を眺めていたら熱海や三島で乗り換えた方がよさそうな感じだったが車内放送では沼津で8時０８分の浜松行きに接続すると言っている。
